The City Center Iguaz, one of the nicest venues in the area, once again celebrated a new edition of the Iguaz Poker Tour Golden Edition, the US$1,000 buy-in event with a guaranteed prize pool of US$70,000.
There was activity all weekend at the institution, where Marcelo Ruiz was ultimately named winner, defeating Cristian Stival in heads-up and winning US$25,980.
Stival earned $15,940 for second place, with Armando Mohamad rounding out the podium for $10,395.
The tournament comprised two initial sessions, and 19 players advanced to the Final Day under the guidance of Day 1A leader Augusto Fugiwara. The Brazilian also made it to the final table, which included the event’s top 10 players, however only six made it beyond the cashier’s desk.
Thus, Nicolás Velarde (10th), Hugo Zanotti (9th), and Fugiwara himself (8th) all departed before the money bag was opened, whereas Hernán Creixell was the cash bubble when he finished seventh and was the last to go empty-handed.
In cashes, Edson De Freitas ended sixth for US$4,504, Dario Barrios was fifth for US$5,551, and Patricia Drummond finished fourth for US$6,930 before making her way to the event’s podium.
